1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and understand how you use it. ETSS also uses similar technologies including localStorage for session management.
2. How We Use Cookies
ETSS uses the following types of cookies and local storage:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| etss_access_token | Essential | Authentication — keeps you logged in | 15 minutes |
| etss_refresh_token | Essential | Session continuity — refreshes your login | 7 days |
| Vercel Analytics | Analytics | Anonymous page view tracking | Session |
3. Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are required for the platform to function. Without them, you cannot log in or access your cases. These cannot be disabled. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) and PECR Regulation 6(4) — strictly necessary for the service requested.
4. Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the platform (page views, popular features). This data is anonymised and does not identify you personally. You can opt out by using a browser extension that blocks analytics scripts.
5. Third-Party Cookies
When you make a payment, Stripe may set cookies for fraud prevention and payment processing. These are governed by Stripe's own cookie policy.
6. Managing Cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies will prevent you from using the platform. Most browsers allow you to: view cookies, delete cookies, block all cookies, or block third-party cookies.
